10 Galentine’s Day Ideas for You and Your Girls
When Keren is not actually tapping away at her keyboard,…
Valentine’s Day is all about love and the guy that laid a claim to your heart but don’t let that keep you from celebrating the love between you and your girls. Celebrated on February 13, a day shy of Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s day is about celebrating platonic love and friendship with your girl squad.
This day may be an unofficial creation by Leslie Knope, the Parks and Recreation character, but there’s something about showing love to people who’ve been by your side through thick and thin that makes this day all the more special.
After all, we must give credit where credit is due. Who else will force you into watching romcoms, be the shoulder you cry on after a bad breakup, and take pictures of you in your new outfit in every imaginable angle until the right one is clicked and uploaded on Insta if not your crew?
How do you honor that kind of love? Here are some Galentine’s Day ideas that can serve as inspiration.
Things To Do With Your Besties For Valentine’s Day/Galentine’s Day
1. Schedule a Spa Day
A spa day can help you and your friends get that relaxing break to soothe the mind and body. Let’s build our celebration on that note.
Stock up on robes, slippers, nail paint supplies, face masks, and while you’re at it, don’t forget to add some quality wine to the equation to spend your Galentine’s day just right.
You can take it a step further by scheduling a group session at a spa and get facials, mani-pedi, and that luxurious treatment you’ve spent hours fawning over to wrap up your night of pampering in a relaxed atmosphere.
2. Plan a Game Night
Don’t want to go out to celebrate Galentine’s? That’s fine! Call your girlfriends over to play childhood staples like Monopoly, Clue, and Sorry! You can also experiment with other games like the competitive Settlers of Catan, Cards Against Humanity and the best one yet—What Do You Meme? The last one will have you in stitches and will make your game night truly a night to remember.
Ask your friends to bring along their choice of beverage, wear face masks, and get started. Don’t forget to bring your competitive spirit along. That is bound to add some quality fun to the equation.
3. Host Karaoke
Host a karaoke night at home and unleash the singer in you. You can easily find playlists of popular Karaoke songs on Youtube. If you’re feeling a little bold, head out to a karaoke hotspot, get on stage, and belt out lyrics with your favorite gal pals in front of an audience.
And while you’re at it, drink up. A little liquid courage goes a long way. This, my friend, is how you set the stage for what could be one of the greatest nights of your life.
4. Have a Binge-Watching Marathon
Host a fun binge-watch marathon night on the couch with your ride-or-die girlfriends. Are we supporting love today or are we being cynics? Take suggestions and set the mood.
You can also catch up to your favorite TV series (read: The Bachelor), sneak in your valuable commentary in between episodes while drinking beer, eating pizza, and binging on your favorite candy. A cozy night in, surrounded by those you love, is the perfect way to celebrate Galentine’s day indoors.
5. Go on a Brunch
Brunch dates are never a bad idea. Head out to your favorite spot or test the waters by going to a new restaurant with your girlfriends. Experiment with new delicacies or take the old road that leads you to your favorite food, cocktails, and mimosas. A wine-and-dine experience with your favorite people? Yes, please.
6. Pack your Bags for a Weekend Getaway
Sure, Galentine’s day won’t always conveniently fall on a Friday, but if it does, be sure to head out for a weekend getaway!
Pack your bags and take your Galentine’s Day celebration to the closest beach. Laze around with your beach bum friends, sip on some bubbly, and slather sunscreen to get the full beach babe experience.
You can also rent a cabin, organize a fun road trip, go on a hike, visit a ski lodge, or host a picnic. The options are endless.
7. Host A Poker Night
Who said only guys enjoy Poker Nights? Try your hand at poker by unleashing your competitive spirit and playing cards with your squad.
Or, if you want to live, love, laugh your way through it, you can also choose to teach your friends the tips and tricks of your favorite poker game.
8. Do A Wine Tasting
Wine tasting is a fun way to catch up with old favorites and experiment with a little bit of everything new. Who knows? Maybe you’ll have a new favorite choice of wine by the end of the day!
Get dressed to the nines and wear your favorite outfit to the winery. Make sure to pass the memo on to your friends so they can vibe right with you! Would make for a perfect Instagram post, wouldn’t it? Book a spot at the winery of your choice well in advance to avoid any disappointments.
9. Have a Favorite Things Party
A holiday fan-favorite, the favorite things party is truly a phenomenal experience. So, why not include it in your Galentine’s celebrations? Invite your girlfriends over for a ‘potluck’ party and ask them to bring three of their favorite things to share.
Set a budget limit but don’t set a theme. Let them bring whatever they like. It could be food, their favorite book, coffee blend, makeup item, or their favorite skincare product. Anything goes. Swap items randomly by holding a “draw” to “win” the product.
10. Shop Till you Drop
Take a break from online shopping by going on a shopping spree with your crew. Have fun trying out cute outfits and doing impromptu fashion shows. And once you’ve found all that you’re looking for, head out to the food court to complete the day with your favorite snack (or dinner!)

When Keren is not actually tapping away at her keyboard, you’ll find her staring into space or drinking copious amounts of coffee. But make no mistake, she's hard at work even then. Come close enough and you’ll hear the whooshing noise of countless words as they go whizzing by - in her head of course.
